I am thinking of you all, from the artists we have worked with, to our audiences, to our supporters, and our team, and my spirit and my heart is with you in this incredibly challenging and heartbreaking time. Like everyone, National Sawdust has been hit hard by this crisis, and we’re in a place to imagine a new reality, and a new future. We are committed to reopening in the fall, and we firmly believe that these challenges will only strengthen the resolve and resiliency of our artistic community, and New Yorkers at large.
-Paola Prestini, Composer, Co-Founder, and Artistic Director
While we pause our traditional programming until the fall, we are excited to announce Live@NationalSawdust, a digital home for the voices and work of the artists we’ve been lucky enough to host over the past 5 seasons in our Williamsburg venue.
The platform will offer concerts from the past five seasons and professional development programs from Renée Fleming, Meredith Monk and others.
Live@NationalSawdust is made possible by a growing list of generous donors including: Sally and Dan Breen, Theodore Cornwell, Richard D’Avino, Kevin Dolan, Joan and Peter Faber, Mimi and Steve Houston, Joanne Hubschman, Catriona Mordant AM and Simon Mordant AM, Jeffrey Quinn, Diana and Jonathan Rose, John Rutherford, Kris Sebastian and Alberto Cribiore, Daisy M. Soros, David Stein, Jill and Bill Steinberg, James Wolcott, Rachel and Daniel Widawsky, Karen Wong, the Booth Ferris Foundation, and with previous capital support from the City of New York through the New York City Council, the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President, and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
The entire Digital Discovery Festival is fully underwritten by the Alphadyne Foundation.
Live@NationalSawdust will feature weekly releases from our archive of live performances. Free for all audiences across the globe, we bring the joyful, profound, and transformative art of music to connect us and foster community at this extraordinary time. We also plan to work with educators to offer our Jazz for Kids program and related content to teachers and school children at this time of remote learning.
Please consider making a 100% tax-deductible donation to help National Sawdust continue to foster our vibrant mission and to support the artists that are the lifeblood of our community.
Please also consider supporting these artists directly during this extraordinarily difficult time — links to their music are included under each video.
Previously purchased tickets for all of our immediately postponed performances will be valid for their to-be-announced rescheduled dates — we’ll be in touch. Alternately, tickets may be converted into a tax-deductible charitable contribution to National Sawdust or credited to a National Sawdust membership. For the most up-to-date information regarding the rescheduling of shows and the resumption of programming, please visit NationalSawdust.org.
